Process Controls Engineer
In This Role, You Will:
- Engineer and configure the Honeywell electrical distribution and controls (DCS) system, direct the development of standard control strategies, and lead advanced process control activities for a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing facility.
- Maintain the integrity and a high degree of reliability for Honeywell distributed control system (DCS) and hardware components associated with it, monitor alarms, troubleshoot issues to mitigate risk onsite at a PSM facility.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas that require process control optimization, plan and execute modifications, and provide technical assistance as needed.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute upgrades required during the annual turnaround event.
- Evaluate the efficiency of manufacturing technologies, instrumentation, and equipment; propose and implement improvements.
- Drive process control innovation, keep abreast of new developments and technologies related to process control engineering.
- Design and implement control systems, specify control element devices, and automate manufacturing processes to improve plant efficiency, performance, and production.
- Keep process control operations within budget without compromising the reliability or efficiency of the asset.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, document processes, prepare and update progress reports.
- Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles with the ability to operate, program, and maintain process control system software for a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant.
- Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find creative solutions and proactively mitigate issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Must be able to adapt methods in response to new information, ever-changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles with ease.
- Able to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
- Must be able to work independently as well as thrive working with a collaborative team to achieve goals, handle multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems, project management software, and Teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of controls engineering experience working with Honeywell distributed control systems (DCS) within the chemical manufacturing industry highly preferred.
- Previous experience working in/around hazardous chemicals in a process management safety (PSM) regulated facility.
