I&E Maintenance Technician
In This Role, You Will:
- Install, inspect, calibrate, and repair process controls, control valves, safety devices, analyzers, PLC’s, field instrumentation (pressure, level, and flow instrumentation), process monitoring equipment, low and high voltage (up to 480v) motors and breakers, control circuits, and distributed control systems (DCS) onsite at the chemical plant.
- Identify problems with equipment onsite, assess the issue and develop the best course of action to ensure the reliability of both 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing PSM facilities.
- Investigate equipment failures, diagnose the root cause of failure, recommend creative solutions to improve the performance of equipment, ensure the reliability and capacity of all electrical systems onsite, including utilities.
- Program automated equipment and control systems with high level of accuracy, isolate and repair problems onsite while devices run using Trex/Hart communicators.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative, routine, and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns while improving the overall capabilities of the chemical manufacturing plant.
- Evaluate new methodologies, equipment, instrumentation, controls, and technology for possible application and use onsite.
- Provide high level I&E technical wxpertise and hands-on tactical support for planned and unplanned maintenance-related issues, shutdowns, and annual turnaround events.
- Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and security related best practices, and policies, including process safety management (PSM).
- Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude required to meet the maintenance needs of the asset.
- Ability to install, inspect, test, adjust and repair electronic, electro-mechanical, control circuits and systems required.
- Previous experience working with high voltage up to 480v as well as expertise diagnosing electrical issues with Trex/Hart communicators with confidence.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with possible mandatory overtime, including working onsite on weekends, holidays, nights, and/or weekends to ensure reliability of 24/7 PSM facilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams; previous experience using maintenance software, eMaint preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical drawings, schematics, equipment drawings, and written safety procedures including federal and state OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to demonstrate safety when using hand tools and power tools commonly used in maintenance and repair work.
- Understand the properties, behaviors, and hazards of manufacturing equipment plus knowledge of how to overhaul and refurbish machinery and chemical plant equipment.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and direct maintenance efforts onsite for the maintenance department.
- Associate’s degree in instrumentation or electrical related discipline or electronic or instrumentation training at a recognized trade or technical school preferred.
- Five years of instrumentation and electrical (I&E) maintenance experience working in chemical manufacturing plants.
- Previous experience working with electrical controls, electrical distribution systems, and motor controls.
- Previous maintenance experience with high voltage equipment (480v), an expertise troubleshooting I&E issues, and resolving complex maintenance problems safely.
